Goliath Tracked Dynapac Paver For Barr
Barr Surfacing and Civil Engineering, part of Barr Quarries Ltd, have purchased a Dynapac SD2550C tracked paver for use on projects across the south west of Scotland.
This larger tracked paver is perfect for laying Cement Bound Granular Mixtures (CBGM) in tough conditions.
Barr, established in the late 1900’s, currently employs over 380 people. They are market leaders in South West Scotland and carry out a range of major works in the area. Barr is currently using the paver on the A75 Hardgrove upgrade project laying 10,000 m3 of CBGM. The paver was purchased especially for this contract as well as to compete in the CBGM and Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) markets.
The new paver, coupled with a new 120s Rapidmix concrete plant, enables Barr to work in these markets. The new SD2550C tracked paver features the safe impact system, integrated leveling, a sliding cabin deck and an energy saving motor all to improve productivity for the user. In addition to the large tracked paver, Barr also purchased two CC1200 tandem asphalt rollers. With low noise, good visibility, easy operation, simple servicing and a drum width of 1200mm the compact roller is well suited to urban areas.
Colin Morrow, Director at Barr, states that, “The paver is performing well and producing a product to an excellent tolerance. We chose the Dynapac paver as it offers good value for money while offering all the essentials required to lay both coated and composite payments. We chose the tracked paver over the wheeled version for its ability to lay composite payments to greater depths and widths. Dynapac have provided strong service and an ability to respond quickly to our needs.”
Mark Black, Business Line Manager Road Construction Equipment says, “This mammoth tracked paver really shows the depth of the Dynapac paver range. From small mini pavers to the large tracked and wheeled machines, I really believe the Dynapac offers the most comprehensive range on the market. We are constantly striving for new innovations and ways to improve. We are delighted to start working with Barr and hope it leads to a long a fruitful relationship.”
Dynapac are now fully immersed into the Atlas Copco brand but Dynapac remains as the product name. The Dynapac SD2550C combines outstanding paving performance with excellent operator comfort and fuel efficiency. It is part of a renewed focus from Atlas Copco on the UK market, offering more ergonomic, economical and robust machines for these tougher economic times.
